For me, the ''Candoli Brothers'' have always been synomymous of fantastic musicians and players, never surpassed, whatever they did ! I first met Conte with Frank Rosolino in 1973, at the age of 8. I already knew who they were because my father, who has a huge records collection, is really grazy about them. By the way who is not ??! Because of them, my life is much better : they give me so much hours and hours of pure joy, plus some very great emotion. I ''love'' you guys !
I remember, one day, Dizzy (Gillespie), listening at my home, to one of the ''Candoli Brothers'''s album with great Jimmy Rowles and Howard Roberts. The theme was ''Pe-Con'', composed by Pete. The immediate reaction of Dizzy(who recognazed them of course right away), very serious : ''Well, I have to go back to take lessons from them !'' No comment !
Keep Swingin'

Dear Pete Candoli: I am quite ancient and have been listening to that wonderful music JAZZ for 50 years.
I have a great many trumpet favorits such as Gillespie, McGhee, Navarro, Eldridge, Terry, Farmer, Allen, Cootie, Clayton, Rodney, Fagerquist, Conte, Yourself & others.
Your dazzling fast runs, thrilling solo work, consistent dynamics in all ranges and the exciting bravura with which your solo as well as section work comes out are much appreciated. I believe, to this day, Cat Anderson, yourself and Ferguson are the only ones to break those sound barriers ...I shall be much pleased to receive from you a personalized signed picture; if one not available a plain note will be just fine.
With many thanks and kind regards,
Sincerely, Girish

Thanks for a great site.
First became aware of Conte Candoli when I heard him play ''Portrait of Count'' with Kenton.
I saw Pete Candoli, briefly,on a TV show sometime in the '60's.It was called ''Johnny Staccato'' and featured John Cassavettes as a jazz pianist doubling as a private-eye.I got a kick when I saw Pete Candoli!

What a wonderful tribute to two of my jazz heros. They certainly don't make them like the Candoli's anymore. Would LOVE Pete's autographed photo, if that is possible. Send to Larry Mooney, 10706 Dempsey Oaks Drive, Humble, TX 77346. THANKS
