I saw Conte several times and Pete at least once playing at free concerts on the tennis courts at McNaughton Park in Elkhart, Indiana when I was in High School between '53 and '57. I was wowed then and have enjoyed them ever since, especially on the Tonight show. I had assumed they were in Elkhart for new instruments; hadnt realized they were from Mishawaka, where I was also born. Did they go to St Monica's grade school as most Italian residents did? My father and his sibs and my wife all went there before going to Mishawaka High. Thank you for this site.

Pete and Conte's music will live forever. I suggest fans check out a CD called "Little Band-Big Jazz"- Conte is featured along with Vince Guaraldi, Buddy Colette, Stan Levy, and Leroy Vinegar. Conte was in top form

Pete, It is so wonderful of Sheryl to put this website together for you. I worked with you in the CLAS program at USC & we got to blow a few notes together! God bless you and keep blowing that horn, loud enough that Conte will hear it and join in.

Pete Candoli is one of the greatest trumpet players of all time, along with his brother Conte. When Pete was with Woody Herman's band he started a lot of the styles that are popular today. I worked with Pete all my life; in the studios, on records, and in bands...and for years on the Merv Griffin Show. Just to get to watch him taught me how the trumpet could be played. He's a close friend, a great trumpet player, and one of the outstanding human beings in the world. I love him.

Thanks for this website. I have always admire both Pete and Conte. Had the pleasure of seen them several times at the Garden City club in SJ. In talking with them it seemed as though they had a genuine love and admiration for each other. I am glad that this site is up to feature their lives, accomplishments and talents for all others to share

Have just re-heard Blues Epress by Shorty Rogers and his Giants from 56.
What a brass section Shorty, Fergusson, Harry Edison and the Candoli bros!! Does Pete remember that session? And I wonder does he know if it was brother Conte or Maynard Fergusson featured on the ''Invention for guitar and trumpet'' with Stan the Man. Sorry for excessive questions

almost died when I heard Conte quote Epistrophy on King Porter Stomp. What a genius.
