I was saddened by the death of Pete but I took great comfort in knowing that he and Conti were together again. As a jazz trumpeter myself one of the highlights of my life was sitting about 4 feet in front of the two of them at a supper club in Saratoga Ca (I think thats where we were??) in the early 80's. Pete, Conti and a rythym section. Sweet. After moving from CA to Oklahoma I got another great gift. I was playing with the Tulsa University jazz band when Conti came in as a guest soloist. The director knew how much of a fan I was so he let me pick Conti up, drive him wherever he needed to go and if that wasnt enough, he set it up so that Conti and I played a tune together on the concert. Was UNBELIEVABLE!! I will NEVER forget these great people and musicians. I LOVE the Candoli brothers. May you both rest in peace. |

Pete Candoli's playing was one of the most amazing trumpet sounds I've ever heard! I'm sure that the great Conrad Gozzo is enjoying playing with Pete again up in the heavens. What a section they were! Thanks for all the great sounds, wish I had a chance to meet you! |

Dearest Sheryl-I was so sad to have learned of Pete's passing. Thanks to you we were able to remain close these many years. May G-d bless you for caring for him. He is with G-d and Conte, now, and is at peace. Your friend, always.

I came across your website by accident and I have to admit that I guess I'm too young to have ever heard of the Candoli Brothers. But after hearing their music, I love them!! Beautiful! I will be buying my first Candoli album! |
